EMI and electrical noise can originate at, or affect, almost any device on a circuit board.  Ferrite chip beads provide the most widely used, cost-effective, compact EMI filtering option for circuit designers.  Ferrite chip beads provide lossy impedance at a variety of impedance and frequency ranges.  Compact package sizes, as small as EIA 0201, assist dense circuit board construction and allow the ferrite chip beads to be placed close to the EMI source or receptor.

Peak impedances as over 5000 ohms are available, with low DC resistances (DCR) down to 0.004 ohms, giving designers a wide range of filtering options.  High frequency versions to 3 GHz and high current parts up to 10 amps further extend the problem-solving range of these products.

SPICE 

Laird Technologies has released a revolutionary new SPICE model for EMI ferrite chip beads.  This new, time saving design aid includes the de-rating effects of dc bias currents on small ferrite board level parts. Other existing SPICE models are only capable of predicting performance of ferrite chip beads when they are not under any significant operating load.  The new SPICE Model has the capability of predicting (with superior accuracy) the real performance of an EMI chip bead actually in circuit operation.
